Fun Times

We made cupcakes for our cousins yesterday. I'm not sure why I thought I could leave the room for a minute--Michael climbed up and started decorating his own table...I mean cupcake!

We've been experimenting with more fancy hair. I bought bobby pins the other day and it's opened up a whole new class of fancy.

We've been reading and writing, especially letters. If you're reading this blog, there is probably a letter in my house addressed to you, I just haven't sent it.
Ashley interviewed Paige the other day and wrote what they planned on doing this summer. It involved going to the beach, Disneyworld, Hawaii, and the YMCA. Good plans, girls.
We took a picnic today and watched the Air Force Demonstration Squadron practice. It was awesome!

I have a mild obsession with airplanes going really fast and doing amazing stunts in the air. I think the only people who know about this are Charie and Emily, who were visiting us last year when I nearly broke my foot to get out our front door in time to see some fighter jets fly overhead... I'm not obsessed in a "I want to do that" kind of way, but in a way that means I hear they're in town and I cancel my lunch date with my sister in law (I did invite her to come...) and plan my day around taking my kids to get as close to it as possible. You can see in the picture above that, while the girls were interested in the planes when they went by, they weren't standing on the picnic table, pointing and shouting with delight every time the planes when right overhead (like I was). I thought maybe I could even get Michael to say "airplane" with all the excitement, but no, "ba" was all he said. We found a great spot to watch the show and eat a picnic. Here is the flower Paige picked for me:
And here is the one she didn't (but wanted to):

Last Day of Kindergarten!

Today was Ashley's last day of kindergarten! They had a fun Hawaiian party with funny relay races, make-your-own grass skirts, fruit kabobs, cake, and root beer floats! Everyone had a good time :)

Paige with her little friend:Even Michael got to have all the treats!

All the kids and the cake. It nearly fell over while the moms were all taking pictures.

Last Day of Preschool!

Thursday was Paige's last day of preschool. They celebrated with ice cream sundaes, bubbles, and playing outside! Paige's teachers were so great this year and she loves them so much! Here they are:
Miss Jami-
Miss Dana-
I think the best thing Paige learned at preschool was to pump her legs all by herself on the swings!

She LOVES to swing! Every morning she has school, we drop Ashley off and then wait on the playground for 15 minutes for her preschool to start. She swings and swings the whole time!
Michael got to have fun at her party, too! The goodbye song:

Kindergarten Graduation

Thursday was Ashley's kindergarten graduation. Both of the kindergarten classes together put on a cute program with songs and poems and they got little diplomas.

Zoo Field Trip

Wednesday was the kindergarten field trip to the zoo!

Ashley's favorite part of the zoo! PENGUINS!
Petting a baby kangaroo!

Field Day

We have had quite a week here! We started off by celebrating Ashley's birthday in class on Monday (which, thankfully only involved me sending in cookies for a snack for everyone!). Then Tuesday was Field Day--Ashley had a great time! They were the yellow team--here's the whole class:

Fancy Hair

We had some time while Michael was napping before church this morning, so I decided to make the girls hair as fancy as I could. This is how it turned out:

Ashley's got a little smooshed while playing, so she decided an orange drink umbrella would be the perfect accessory. She actually asked me, "Does this look fancy or silly?" "Definitely fancy, darling!"

Spring Soccer

Ashley's done with spring soccer! All the mothers at school warned me not to sign her up because the weather is so unpredictable in the spring, but I didn't listen. The first two games were snowed out, so she got to have two double-headers in 40 degree weather, with drizzly rain. It was really cold every single game. Not fun! I took these pictures the only day it wasn't raining, but believe me, it was still freezing!
I think Ashley had a fun time anyways and learned a lot about soccer and being on a team. Her coach was a cute high school girl who had a little sister on the team, so that was good!

They were definitely making up dance moves--not defending the goal!

The best part of the game? Sitting on the sidelines with Daddy!

Mother's Day Tea

Paige's class had a Mother's Day Tea Party for us today and it was really cute! She made a placemat that was all about me. It says:
My mom is 16 1/2 years old.
My mom has the most beautiful pink shirts.
My mom's favorite food is mac and cheese.
I love it when my mom takes me places.
My mom loves it when I play with her.
I love my mom because she hugs and kisses me!

Paige playing after school with her friend.

Ashley playing with her friends. Almost every day, the kindergarten class stays after and plays on the hill right in front of school and all the moms sit and talk. It's really fun!

Ashley made me some beautiful presents and also wrote a book about me. Her book says:

This is my mom. Her name is Amelia. My mom likes to hicke. One world I would use to describe my mom is fancy. My favorite thing about my mom is she loves me. I know my mom loves me because she gefs me candee. If I could give my mom anything in the world, I would give her flawrs.

I've already had a wonderful mother's day!
